Syrian President issues two decrees to increase wages

Damascus : Syrian president Bashar Al-Assad on Saturday issued two decrees to increase the wages and salaries rate 25 percent for government employees and resigned employees with pension salaries.

A presidential statement said the first decree, number 24, stipulates the increase of wages and monthly salaries for the civilian and military workers in ministries, departments and public institutions, companies, public sector enterprises, municipalities, local government units, companies, public establishments, private schools and other public sector bodies.

The second decree number 25 stated that resigned civilian and military employees included in the retirement and social insurance systems will get an increase of 25 percent on their monthly salaries.

The two decrees will be published in the official Gazette, and will be effective on retroactive basis starting from the beginning of the current month.

The increase came to help the Syrian people to accommodate with the wave of price rises that is sweeping the world, especially the prices of essential food products and fuel.
