Land ownership changes process on verge of Israel’s 60th anniversary

By IRNA,

Tehran : During the course of the 1967 War the Zionist regime managed to defeat the armies of the Arab countries, occupy the entire lands of Palestine, as well as Syria’s Golan Heights and Egypt’s Sinai Sahara.

It was after that humiliating war that the Zionist regime leisurely began vast scale confiscation of the Palestinians’ lands and the construction of various Zionist townships, both in Gaza Strip and in the West Bank.

In Gaza they constructed 33 townships and by the year 2000, 50% of the Palestinians’ remaining lands were seized again by the Zeminkhar Zionists.

Although the United Nations considers the occupation of lands during the 1967 War by Israel as illegal, but at any rate, the West Bank was divided by a separation wall into small and scattered factions of lands, and the Zionists kept on seizing lands, as they have always been.

THE OSLO TREATY

In the year 1993 and following the signing of Oslo Treaty, that is the greatest achievement of the Self Rule Palestinian Authority and a step backward by Israel, the Zionists accepted to transfer the location of their soldiers’ barracks from the major cities in the West Bank, including Ramallah, Jenin, Beit Lahm, Ariha, and Al-Khalil, and a few more cities there to the vicinity and suburbs of those cities.

Thus, the entrances, exits, and the roads leading to the West Bank were put under strict military control of Israel.

The Palestinians, too, took charge of the rural affairs of the cities and some 400 villages inside the security belt created by the Zionist regime, but the responsibility of maintaining the security of the resources and lands outside the residential centers remained up to the Israeli forces, and the Palestinians were not, and still are not allowed to interfere in affairs related to israeli immigrants, police, and army.

Israel also still has control over the affairs of 50 to 60 Palestinian villages in west Bank. Based on this treaty, the West Bank is divided into three parts, namely the A, B, and C districts, in which those cities are situated, and District A, or 3% of the West Bank, is under the civilian governance of the self rule Palestinian Authority.

Control of District B, in which 68% of the Palestinians of the West Bank reside, whose area is 22.8% of the West Bank is up to the Zionist regime, but ruling its economic and social affairs is up to the Palestinian Authority.

The C District, that includes 74.2% of the West Bank, too, is fully under the control of the Zionist regime.

Meanwhile, based on Oslo Treaty, 60% of Gaza Strip, including 228 square kilometers, was given to the Palestinian Authority.

Based on Sharm Sheikh Treaty, that is also referred to as Wy River II Treaty, it was agreed that 10% of the C district lands should be transferred to B District, and 8.1% of B and C district lands should be transferred to the A district.

All the same, despite the signing of those unjust treaties, if all of them were implemented properly, some 40% of occupied lands world have been returned to the Palestinians, in very scattered patches.

Yet, the Zionist regime did not respect its own signed treaty once again, and merely turned 1% of the C District into A District, suspending the remainder of land returns to God-only-knows-when! RETREATING FROM GAZA STRIP
Yet, at any rate, the high cost of occupation forced the Zionist regime to retreat its forces from Gaza Strip unilaterally and without harmonizing in advance with the Palestinian side.

By doing so, in addition to presenting a peace loving face of its warmonger nature at the international scene, the Zionist regime also managed to further expand its townships in the West Bank and to keep strict supervision over and siege of Gaza.

Thus, in the year 2005 the 360 square kilometer vast Gaza Strip was put under the control of the Palestinian Authority.

AFTER ANNAPOLIS PEACE CONFERENCE

Following the political developments in Palestine, coming to power of Hamas, and boycotting of the Palestinians’ elected Government by the United States, the European countries, and many of the other contributors to the Palestinians, a so called peace conference was held in Annapolis, USA, to push forth the tendencies of pro-West forces within the Palestinians in the year 2007.

Despite the agreements signed at that conference by the Zionists to end building Zionist townships the process of events that followed proved that Israel respects non of its international commitments.

There are now some 80 Israeli military check points in the West Bank and 446 road blocks, including cement barriers, sand hills, and gates, passing through which has made the traffic of the Palestinians discriminately tough, affecting their economy very negatively.

Under such conditions that some optimist commentators expected that the Annapolis Conference would turn the events in a positive direction, the Housing and Urban Development Ministry of Israel has recently reveal an unprecedented ambitious ten year plan for constructing 1,900 residential units in the West Bank!
During the same period the Zionist regime intends to construct over 20,000 more houses for the Jews, whose total area would be two million square meters in occupied Holy Qods!
