New Delhi: The final results of the Civil Services Examinations 2007 were declared yesterday with 24 Muslims in the list of 734 successful candidates.
Md Perwez Alam is a student of Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) who cleared the exam held by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on his first attempt. He is so brilliant student there should not be any surprise on his clearing the most prestigious exam in the country on his first attempt, said Mohammad Asif Umar, coordinator of JMI’s Center for Coaching and Career Planning Guidance.
Another good news for the Muslim community in India is that Mariam Farzhana Sadhiq who has been ranked 30 in the final list of the successful candidates.
The Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2007 were held by the UPSC in October-November, 2007 and the interviews for Personality Test held in March-May, 2008.The successful candidates have been recommended for appointment to Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service, Indian Police Service and Central Services, Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’.
The 734 successful candidates include 286 General (including 12 physically challenged candidates), 266 Other Backward Classes (OBC) (including 5 physically challenged candidates), 128 Scheduled Castes (SC) (including 5 physically challenged candidates) and 54 Scheduled Tribes (ST) candidates. The list of Muslim candidates is given below.
