New Delhi : An eight-year-old girl was killed and at least 20 people were injured in four incidents of wall and house collapses in parts of the capital following strong winds and rain.
Soni, 8, was killed and six children were injured when the roof of a house collapsed in Rama Park area of Uttam Nagar late Saturday.
Fire Service officials said all seven were trapped under the rubble.
“The girl suffered head injuries and died on the spot. Others were admitted to the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital where their condition was stated to be out of danger,” said an official pointing to strong winds and weak construction material as reasons for the collapse.
Five people suffered minor injures when the balcony of a semi-pucca house in Vishwas Park area of Dwarka collapsed Sunday morning.
Six people were injured when a wall of a house in Rohini’s Mubarakpur area collapsed late Saturday. All the injured, from the same family, were admitted to the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital.
Fire officials attributed the collapse to strong winds and the dilapidated condition of the building.
Four people suffered minor injuries when a house collapsed in Usmanpur area of northeast Delhi late Saturday.
