Cuban Trade Mission Arrives in India

New Delhi : A business delegation headed by deputy Foreign Trade Minister Eduardo Escandell, arrived here today to promote Cuba s commercial links with this Asian nation.

It is, in fact, the most numerous business group from the island to have come to New Delhi in the history of bilateral relations.

“We have the objective of promoting entrepreneurial links and develop commercial and economic relations to correspond with the excellent political ties existing between our countries”, said Escandell to Prensa Latina.

For his part, Cuban ambassador to India, Miguel Angel Ramirez, affirmed this business meeting seeks to “produce a substantial increase in bilateral links in the area of trade, cooperation and investment.”

There are in this mission officials from the chemical, pharmaceutical, lumber, sugar, metalurgic, tourism, banking, biotechnology, transport, textile, energy and consumption articles sectors.

The deputy Minister has an agenda that includes several business seminars and other meetings with executives of important corporations, meetings with Ministers of Trade and Industry, Kamal Nath and Agriculture, Sharad Pawar.

A meeting with the Minister of State for Foreign Relations, Anand Sharma is also slated.

The Cuban delegation opens its work agenda tomorrow a meeting with Indian peers, organized by the Federation of Chambers of Trade and Industry of India.

On Tuesday, there will be a plenary business meeting coordinated by the Indian Chamber of Industry, among other many activities which include a visit to Mumbai, main economic center of the country.
