New Delhi : A city court Monday convicted two men for murder but referred the matter to a juvenile court as they were 17 years old at the time of the crime.
Additional Sessions Judge Babulal held Mohammad Zakki and Mohammad Ashraf guilty under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and referred the matter to the juvenile court to pronounce the sentence May 24, the next date of hearing.
The incident dates back to Aug 28, 1999. The two accused along with their friends were playing cricket in the Sadar Bazar area when they had a quarrel among themselves. Amit, a passer-by, intervened but was killed when the two allegedly hit him on the head with a bat.
