Gaza : An armed Israeli was shot dead by Israeli police on Tuesday in the Israeli central town of Ashdod after making a botched bid to kidnap an officer.
A police spokesman told Israel Radio that an armed man tried, earlier today, to kidnap one of the police officers near a police station, but he was chased and shot dead.
A police officer who took part in the chase was injured, but the kidnapped officer was safely freed.
An investigation has begun to determine motives of the daring kidnapping attempt.
