Kolkata: A record four class X Muslim girls appearing for West Bengal Board of Madrasah Education (WBBME) High Madrasah exams have scored 90 percent marks this year, as the board announced results this week.
Consistent with the nation wide trends in this exam also girls have outshined the boys.
Two girls of Khalatpur High Madrasah of Howarah secured second and third position in the state. Afsona Khatun scored 95.78% to be second in the state and Zarina Naznin at just five marks less than her class mate at 858 came third in the state.
Khalatpur Madrasah is run by the management of Al-Amin.
Madrasah tus-Sabaya Girl’s High Madrasah gave an impressive result all the students passed, three with distinction- Shahnaaz Parveen(766), Ghazal Firdaus(741), Rubina Khatoon(701).
Afsona Khatun who topped among the girls is from a poor family and wants to become a doctor. Her father Ansar Ali Mondal earns his livelihood by selling biscuits. She scored 99 marks in Mathematics and 97 in Life Sciences.
Zarina Naznin, daughter of Abdul Jaleel also wants to become a doctor. Her father is a clerk in a government office.
