Bangkok : A homemade bomb planted roadside was triggered by suspected insurgents on Monday morning in Thailand’s southern Pattani Province, injuring two patrol soldiers.
The bomb, triggered by mobile phone signal, blasted while an army unit was riding motorcycles patrolling around the area, local police said.
According to local newspaper Bangkok Post’s webnews, two soldiers of the unit were severely injured during the bombing.
Thailand’s three southernmost provinces — Yala, Narathiwat and Pattani have been troubled with insurgency-related violence which has claimed more than 3,000 lives since it resumed in early 2004.
