Tehran : Chairman of the Expediency Council Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani said on Monday that the enemies lowered level of ties between Iran and Bosnia, Iranian national news agency (Irna) reported.
Rafsanjani made the remarks in a meeting with the Bosnian Ambassador to Tehran Senahid Bristric.
Iran was very hopeful to play an active and constructive role in Bosnia after the war ended in the country but the enemies’ plots lowered the level of such ties.
The current level of economic and commercial ties between the two countries is very low, Rafsanjani said.
He expressed the hope that through mutual cooperation the current level of relations would be upgraded to satisfactory level.
Given to independence of Bosnia after the war, he said it was very tough time for the Muslim World mainly the Islamic Republic of Iran, adding that it was responsibility of all Islamic countries to prevent genocide in the country.
The Bosnia ambassador, for his part, appreciated the support made by the Islamic Republic of Iran during war and said the supports were made during “your presidency when most of other countries had adopted an indifference attitude.”
“We hope that expansion of cultural and religious cooperation with Iran will help revive our Islamic identity,” he said.
