OIC Chief expresses sorrow over death of Nigerian peacekeepers

Jeddah : The Secretary General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) Prof Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu has sent a message of condolence to Nigeria over the tragic loss of 46 peace keepers returning from a mission in Darfur, Sudan. In his message, Prof Ihsanoglu expressed deep sorrow and sadness over the accident that claimed the lives of the soldiers and conveyed, on his personal behalf and on behalf of the entire members of the OIC, their sincere condolences to the bereaved families, the government and people of Nigeria.

The OIC Chief expressed profound gratitude to the departed peace keepers and indeed Nigeria for the worthy sacrifice to restore peace to another Member State of the OIC. While reiterating the solidarity of the OIC with the people of Nigeria in this moment of national grief, the Secretary General prayed to Allah to reward the soldiers of peace with paradise for their exemplary service to humanity.
