New Delhi: Union Minister of Urban Development Jaipal Reddy has asked city officials to remove hurdles coming in the way of the redevelopment plan for Delhi’s Jama Masjid.
A delegation of prominent Muslim personalities headed by Kapil Sibbal, local Member of Parliament and Union Minister for Science and Technology, met with Jaipal Reddy on 29th May. The delegation raised the issue of Jama Masjid redevelopment plan, slaughterhouses and locality of Majnu ka Tila.
Kapil Sibbal informed the union minister about beautification of Jama Masjid and its surroundings. Member of the delegation and a prominent personality of Jama Masjid locality, Haji Mian Faiyyazuddin told the minister that locals are not against the beautification plan but they want to get assurance from the authorities that the plan will not harm the original view of the mosque and its neighbourhood. Representatives from Sadar Bazar locality put the case of slaughterhouses in the area.
