Hyderabad : All orders and files of the Andhra Pradesh government can now be accessed by citizens at the click of a mouse, making it the first state in the country to throw itself open to online scrutiny by the people.
The southern state Monday announced that the orders of all 30 departments of the government would now be available on the internet as soon as they are released.
Suresh Chanda, secretary of the information technology and communications department, told a news conference that all government orders (GOs) issued since February last would be available on the website www.goir.ap.gov.in.
“At one click, you can see all government orders issued on a single day. For example, all 104 government orders issued today are accessible on the net,” he said.
“This will make the life of common people easier who earlier had to run from pillar to the post. This is in accordance with the Right to Information Act which calls for proactively providing information to the citizen,” he said.
“Anybody can read or download the GOs. We have put an end to the earlier manual system of publication of GOs under which any department could have taken its own time to publish and release them,” Chanda said.
The IT department is also taking up a separate project to put all old GOs on the website for public access. However, certain confidential GOs will not be placed on the net but their numbers will be available. All state gazettes will also be published online from July 1.
The availability of GOs on the net is one of the three major e-governance initiatives announced by the government to bring transparency in its functioning.
Under the citizens to government (C2G) initiative, the public can lodge their grievances and access all information through the web.
Any citizen can lodge his or her grievances or provide information or make suggestions to the government. If a citizen doesn’t have access to the internet, he or she can do so by contacting the call centre on toll free number 1100 or even by sending SMS through mobile. Every caller will be given identification number for follow-up.
KM Bank is the third initiative through which the people will get access to any government file along with its notes by different officials. They will get the details from www.kmbank.ap.gov.in website.
The state government has already announced that it will next month launch a portal that would serve as a single gateway for all information about government departments and orders.
The portal www.ap.gov.in, which will be launched July 1, will integrate all departments and will have updated information about the government.
