Dubai : The Dubai chapter of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) marked the institute’s 60th year celebrations at its 20th annual conference here.
“Ours is the only overseas centre of ICAI which holds the institute’s chartered accountants’ examination outside India,” ICAI Dubai’s secretary S. Venkatesh told IANS here at the conclusion of the two-day conference here Friday evening.
“Today we have around 1,000 members in Dubai,” he added.
ICAI’s Dubai chapter is one of the first overseas centres established by the ICAI.
Since its establishment in 1982 with about 30 members, the chapter has grown to around 1,000 members from Dubai and other emirates of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The centre holds the ICAI examinations twice a year.
“Around 150 students appear for the ICAI examinations which are held in November and May every year,” Venkatesh said
Formed with the intention of providing a common platform for interaction to its members, the Dubai chapter also interacts with other trade and business organisations in the UAE and plays an active role in the areas of professional development, public relations and professional ethics in the UAE.
