Atwal misses cut at Gretzky Classic

By IANS,

Ontario (Canada) : Arjun Atwal suffered a setback in his campaign to get back to the PGA Tour as he was unable to make use of the perfect weather conditions and missed the cut at the inaugural Ford Wayne Gretzky Classic on the Nationwide Tour.

Atwal, one-over 73 after the first round at the par-72 Raven Country Club, was once again one-over 72 at the par-71 Georgian Club and missed the cut by a huge margin.

Atwal, currently 18th on the Money List on Nationwide Tour, was two-over 145 and the cut came at five-under 138. In the second round, he had just one birdie on the closing 18th, but had earlier dropped shots on third and 16th.

Americans Kyle McCarthy and D.A. Points moved one shot clear of the field at the midway stage. Points shot a 10-under 62 at the Raven Country Club and moved to a two-day total of 131 (-12).

Kyle McCarthy posted a bogey free 65 and joined Points at 12-under.

The tournament pairs professionals with celebrities and is played on two courses.
