Democratic Govt. to be form in J&K by Nov. 23: Vohra

    Jammu: Governor N.N. Vohra said that the democratic government will be formed in the state by November 22-23.

    This was stated by him in an exclusive interview to Take One Channel here today. He said there is no proposal to delay or postpone the assembly elections.

    The Governor said that the development tempo in the state will be given impetus and priority attention will be accorded to the delivery of various public services like drinking water, electricity, health services and road connectivity. He said development is possible only when there is peace. The Governor renewed his appeal to the people for maintaining peace and helping the administration in restoring normalcy, in order to steer the state towards progress and development.

    N.N. Vohra said that the Chamber of Commerce representatives have informed him that the state had suffered a loss of Rs. 180 crores during nine days Bandh and protests. He said that the leaders of Jammu spearheading the movement should sit and talk to find some common path to solve the land issue. The Governor said that the religious issues are very sensitive and unfortunately doubts have been created in the minds of people regarding Amarnath Shrine Board land transfer issue and the future of Amarnath Yatra.

    The Governor said the land exists where it is, facilities are being created for the comfort of the Yatries on the said land and the Shrine Board will contribute financially to improve the facilities for yatra.

    He assured that all logistic support and infrastructural development to be required for the smooth yatra in the years to come would be provided by the state government right from Lakhanpur to Baltal and there from to the Holy Cave.

    N.N. Vohra said the Government has to restore faith and confidence in the minds of the people of the state and media must also play a constructive role in that direction.

    Governor said the unfortunate damage to the transformer at Gladini Grid Station has plunged Jammu, Rajouri and Poonch into darkness and his government is making all out efforts to find a via media to supplement the power supply to these areas by making alternate arrangements till the transformer is repaired by BHEL which is likely to happen not before September this year. Vohra said his government is in dialogue with Union Government and various neighbouring state governments to somehow overcome the power crisis in the three districts.

    Vohra said he is committed to a clean efficient and transparent administration and shall initiate all steps possible in this direction to improve the delivery mechanism and provide good governance to the state.
