New Delhi : Lufthansa German Airlines has cancelled its Mumbai-Frankfurt flight for Monday and Tuesday to clear its maintenance backlog created by an employees’ strike in Germany last week, which has since ended, an airlines official said here Monday.
The five-day strike called by the employees had affected its maintenance, the airline spokesperson said.
“Though the strike is now over, it will still take a few days before operations return to normal. We have taken several proactive measures and all passengers are being informed through our dedicated call centre and respective offices. Most of the passengers have been rebooked to ensure they can reach their final destinations at the earliest.”
The airline operates 110 flights every week to and from seven Indian destinations, which include Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Pune.
“There are some issues concerning maintenance at Frankfurt at present. This is the sole reason for the cancellation of the Mumbai-Frankfurt flight for two days. Our Mumbai-Munich daily flights fly as scheduled,” the official said.
All other flights would continue to fly from India as per schedule, the official added.
