Lucknow : A Bharatiya Janata Party leader received several bullet injuries while his nephew was killed in Uttar Pradesh’s Jalaun district when some unidentified people fired at them, the police said Sunday.
“Mangal Tiwari, BJP’s district president, and his nephew Gaurav Tiwari were attacked in the Kaduara locality of Jalaun late Saturday night,” police officer Om Tyagi told IANS on phone.
While Gaurav died on the spot, Tiwari was rushed to a nearby hospital from where he was referred to a Kanpur hospital. His condition is said to be critical, the police official said. Jalaun is about 200 km from here.
“The incident appears to be the fallout of political rivalry,” said Tyagi.
