New Delhi : Raw material for explosives has been seized from a spot in India’s northern city Kanpur where two men were killed in a bomb blast Sunday afternoon, police said Monday.
On Monday, police recovered some crude hand grenades, lead oxide, red lead, potassium nitrate, timers and batteries from the spot, inside a private hostel in Kanpur, the Indo-Asian News Service reported.
A massive blast took place in the hostel Sunday afternoon, killing two men, police said.
The recovery of timer device and explosive raw material indicates a major terror plot and police teams have begun a probe, police said.
The hostel was close to the city’s popular J.K. temple, where many people visited on last Sunday, a famous religious festival in India, a police official said. Police suspected the explosives were meant to spread terror during Sunday’s celebrations.
