Three arrested in Jharkhand for threatening Dhoni

By IANS, Ranchi : Jharkhand police have arrested three people in connection with the extortion demand of Rs.5 million and the threats to Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Dhoni's family had received a letter Monday, demanding Rs.5 million. The letter bore the name of a gangster Taslim, who claimed to be a close associate of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. A second letter, received Wednesday, threatened to blow up Dhoni's house if the demand for the money was not met and if the police were informed about it.

MCC, Bengal cricket together mark first Test at Eden Gardens

Boucher was given out wrongly, says Cricket Australia’s umpires manager

By IANS, Melbourne : South African batsman Mark Boucher was wrongly given out leg before wicket on the final day of the Sydney cricket Test against Australia, said Cricket Australia's (CA) umpires manager Andrew Scotford. Australia won the match but lost the series 1-2 to South Africa. Scotford felt that Boucher was struck on the full by the ball in front of the stumps but that did not mean the umpire should have to presume the ball would have hit the stumps, reports The Age.

Everton managed to beat Serie A side Fiorentina 2-0 to reverse a first leg defeat, but went out 4-2 on penalties, while Tottenham managed a 1-0 victory at PSV Eindhoven, but lost 6-5 on penalties after a 1-1 aggregate score.
