Include moral education in syllabus: SIO symposium

Patna: Bihar unit of Students Islamic Organization of India (SIO) organized a symposium on “Current Educational Trends & Muslim Students” at Urdu Academy auditorium in Patna on evening of 31st Jan. 2010.

In his inaugural speech, Mr. Irshad Ahmad, president of Bihar SIO, threw a light on the activities of SIO and reason to hold the program.

“The real purpose of education is not only to get good jobs but to identify the qualities that every one bestowed with and to recognize that the Lord who created us is the core objective of education. There is a need to review that how much we are utilizing our knowledge to reform and build the good society” he said.

Speaking on the occasion, Kishanganj MLA Mr. Akhtarul Iman said: “Knowledge means morality and principles but unfortunately we are missing that due to lack of material related to it in syllabus. We should include sufficient parts of moral education in our syllabus.”

He also strongly advocated to include the modern education in Madarsa curriculum and termed it as need of the time.

Mr. Naseem Akhter said that division of education between modern and religious harmed Muslims much than any other thing; it pushed them behind in educational field.

Presiding over the program Mr. Shabbir Alam Khan advised the students to get all kinds of educations and before it fix their goal of education.

Professor Suroor Ahmad, Masroor Ahmad, Akhlaqur Rahman also addressed the students.

In the end of the program, checks for scholarships were also distributed by Human Welfare Foundation among students.
