Dammam(Saudi Arabia): “Indian Muslims played a significant role in India’s Freedom struggle. Many political parties ruled India after Independence, but no one fully succeeded to uphold the values of secularism. Though Indian Constitution stresses the security for minorities, the fascist elements have taken the pledge to weaken them” said Mr. K M Sharif, General Secretary of Popular Front of India.
He was addressing a public program on “Reservation – Muslims Rights” organized by India Fraternity Forum (IFF) on 29th January in Dammam.
The program was conducted to enlighten fellow Indian nationals about Muslim Reservation taken in context of the Justice Ranganath Mishra Commission Report which has recommended 10% reservation to all Muslims in education and government employment.
On this occasion Mr. K M Shareef added that Indian Constitution guarantees religious, social and economic rights to minorities, but unfortunately these rights are blocked by anti-Muslim elements in India.
During his speech Mr. K M Sharif, enlightened the Sachar Committee Report and said that according to this report the major challenges for Indian Muslims are Identity, Equity and Security. That is mainly due to capitalism and communalism.
“Indian Muslims also face allegations like Anti-Nationalism, betrayal and appeasement” he added.
In order to overcome all these problems Mr. K.M Sharif urged all Muslims to fight for reservation in field of education and government employment which is recommended in Ranganath Misra Commission report.
Maulana Zafarulla Qasmi, northern state president of IFF, while inaugurating the program appealed all Muslim organizations to forget differences and asked to put a unified struggle to get our rights at this moment.
Moosa Kutty, central coordinator of IFF, Jahfar Sadiq Faizi, Member of All India Imam’s Council and Mohammed Ashraf also spoke on the occasion
Earlier, Mohammed Sharif gave a short preface for the program and welcomed the gathering. The program began with the recitation of the Qur’an and it was attended a large number of people.
