Dubai : The Middle East’s premier traffic and transport infrastructure show 2007 will be held in December at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre, Emirates news agency WAM reported.

The Gulf Traffic Exhibition 2007 will bring together international manufacturers and suppliers offering latest products, services and technologies for the traffic and transport industry.

Sarah Woodbridge, exhibitions director at IIR Middle East (Institute for International Research), which is organizing the event, said Dubai needs to invest heavily in key areas including essential transport infrastructure due to its fast growing population.

She said the $4.2 million Dubai metro system that will start operation in 2009 will be built around top-of-the-class modern trains, fully air-conditioned and customised to meet Dubai specific requirements. Each train will be about 75m long consisting of 5 cars.

Mattar Al Tayer, executive director for Roads and General Projects Affairs, said that Dubai metro is the solution to the rapidly growing traffic in the city.
