Gaza : Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’ aides will meet with their Israeli counterparts on Sunday to discuss the agenda of tomorrow’s meeting between President Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, according to an Israeli newspaper.
Ha’aretz, an Israeli daily, reported online today that Olmert and Abbas will discuss the “declaration of principles” between the two parties before the Mideast peace conference called for by Washington.
Abbas and Olmert will talk of ways to progress before the conference next November.
The paper added Israel will not be making any good will gestures towards the Palestinians before tomorrow’s meeting, but is willing to discuss many issues.
Olmert will refuse to return control of security to the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank, the paper said, as he claims Abbas’s forces are not strong enough.
The paper predicted that the two parties will discuss the possibility of removing a number of barriers and checkpoints in the West Bank and lifting arrest warrants out against Fatah fighters wanted by Israel.
