Upon arrival in Algiers’ airport, Saeedi-Kia said “The aim of his trip to Algiers is to make preparations for President Ahmadinejad’s upcoming visit to Algeria.

Stressing the importance of ties between the two friendly countries of Iran and Algeria, Saeedi-Kia said, “There are plenty of grounds for cooperation between Tehran and Algiers.”

Cooperation in the fields of manufacturing automobile, car spare parts, cement, housing, sciences and academic affairs should be strengthened, he added.

He also said establishing a joint bank or opening an Iranian bank branch in Algiers is an appropriate step for developing ties.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is to pay a 2-day official visit to Algeria beginning on Monday at the head of a high-ranking political and economic delegation.

Consultations on issues of mutual interest as well as international issues and considering ways to strengthen ties are the most important aims of the visit.
