Gaza : A Hamas lawmaker lashed out at the movement on Sunday for calling on President Mahmoud Abbas and his secular Fatah movement to resume national dialogue.
Lawmaker Marwan Abu Rass issued a statement, urging Hamas to stop requesting talks with “the Authority’s officials in the West Bank.”
Since taking over the Gaza Strip and routing Abbas’ forces in June, Hamas has been calling on the president to sit for talks, which Abbas refused. Instead, Abbas sacked the Hamas-led unity government and appointed a new one to rule in the West Bank.
Abu Rass also accused members of the new government of “collaborating with the enemies of the nation and the homeland and completely immersed in financial, administrative, national and moral corruption.”
Hamas has also blamed the new government of playing a role in isolating the Gaza Strip to incite the people against Hamas.
