Khartoum : The United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Darfur, Jan Eliasson, has arrived in Khartoum for a visit to Sudan during which he will visit Darfur and Juba and meet a number of government officials to discuss the ongoing arrangements for the peace process in Darfur.
The UN envoy participated in the meeting of the Sudan’s neigbouring countries, which was held Tuesday in Sharm El-Sheikh in Egypt and discussed the ongoing efforts for preparations for the coming negotiations between the government and the armed movements in Darfur.
Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abulgait affirmed that the meeting was aimed at encouraging the armed movements in Darfur to participate in the negotiations and unify their visions to reach peace in Darfur.
