Khartoum : The Government of Sudan says what is going on in Chad is an internal affair that Sudan has nothing to do with.
In this regard, it adds that it has been working to calm down the situation in Chad based on its policy of good-neighbourliness, respect for the sovereignty of states and non-intervention in the affairs of others.
A statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs here Wednesday said the Chadian Government had been accusing Sudan of trying to destabilize security and stability in Chad following the eruption of military clashes between the Chadian Government and armed opposition movements in eastern Chad and on the joint borders with Sudan.
The statement reiterated Sudan’s keenness to abide and comply with the security agreements signed with Chad.
It further referred to the effective Sudanese contribution in the mediation between the Chadian Government and opposition movements in the negotiations of Libya, which culminated by signing a peace agreement only to achieve stability in Chad, which affects the whole region, including the Sudan.
The ministry statement urged the Chadian Government and the opposition movements to respect the agreement and to work to ease the situations towards lasting peace in Chad.
In this connection, it praised the efforts of the Libyan government as well as the Libyan Leader, Colonel Muammar Ghaddafi, in bringing the Chadians together towards the realization of national accord in Chad.
