New Delhi : Ace Indian shooter Gagan Narang won the silver in the 50M rifle prone men’s event and then helped his team win the silver medal in the 11th Asian Shooting Championship in Kuwait, Monday.
According to information reaching here, Narang, who won the gold medal in the World Cup last year to qualify for the Beijing Olympics, shot a total of 595 out of a possible 600 and was tied with Zhando Jia of China. In the final round, he shot 100.7 to win the silver while the gold went to Zhando with 105 points. South Korean Duk Bing won the bronze medal with a score of 591 in the qualifying round and shot 103.7 in the final.
The Indian team comprising Gagan, Sanjeev Rajput (589) and Surendra Singh Rathore (584) won the silver medal with a total score of 1768. The gold was won by China (1770) and Japan (1766) the bronze.
