Baghdad : The Iraqi police had released 108 Iraqi prisoners from an Iraqi detention facility, days after 100 Iraqis were set free from a US army prison, said the American army Monday.
The Iraqi police set free 108 Iraqis from Tasfirat prison, run by the Iraqi authorities east of Baghdad, on December 18, the army said in a statement.
The release of prisoners is part of efforts by the US government to support the national conciliation process, it added.
The Iraqi prisoners were released following completion of interrogation and examination of their files, said the army.
