Baghdad : At least 32 persons died and 100 others were wounded in suicide bomb attacks in two Iraqi cities on Tuesday, police sources confirmed.
According to Aswat al Iraq news agency, a suicide bomber detonated himself amid mourners at a funeral procession in Baqouba, 35 miles northeast of Baghdad, killing 10 and wounding 20.
In a separate attack, a suicide bomber exploded a pickup truck outside a residential complex belonging to a state-run oil company in Beiji city, 155 miles north of Baghdad on Tuesday, killing 22 people and wounding 80, local officials said.
Medical reports said that the number of victims could increase in the next few hours since more bodies were still being pulled from the rubble of two destroyed buildings.
The bomber detonated his explosives when Iraqi police and members of a volunteer security force prevented him from entering the gate of the compound belonging to the state-run North Oil Company.
The police said most of the dead were civilians, including three children. Also killed were guards of the Oil Company and members of the volunteer force.
Authorities imposed a curfew on the city, home to the country’s largest refinery, until further notice.
