Maputo : Mozambique will scale up production of anti-retroviral drugs ARVs with the inauguration of a factory by 2009, Health Minister Ivo Garrido affirmed Tuesday.
First building works will begin on March, Garrido assured, with a programme that includes three phases: medication to fight AIDS, then others to fight malaria and antibiotics.
No decision has been made yet on where to place the factory, but it must be in southern provinces, he pointed out.
With 16 percent of HIV AIDS seropositive in an area of some 20 million inhabitants, Mozambique is one of the countries with greater rates of people HIV AIDS infected.
