Moscow : Russian Supreme Court ratified the decision of the Central Election Commission to refuse the application of four independent aspirants to candidates to the presidency.
Maximum court authorities rejected the actions of Oleg Shenin, Valeri Bespalov, Nikolai Zubkov and Yuri Gudzhabidze, whose candidacies were turned down by CCE due to incongruities in the documentation, the official entity says.
The representative of the Attorney’s Office before the Court supported the position of the electoral entity when referring that the dispositions of CCE are legal and solidly hold.
Both plaintiffs and their lawyers said they will appeal the decision before the Russian Constitutional Court, meantime the period of handing over of the requests to participate in the presidential campaign concluded this week.
Only two out of seven pretenders in Russia’s Presidential Election Set for March, 2008 maintain in the fierce contest for presidency: former Prime Minister Mijail Kasianov (2004) and Andrei Bogdanov.
