Kabul : Afghan forces killed 32 Taliban insurgents in the southern province of Kandahar in a two-day operation, provincial governor Asadullah Khalid said Tuesday.
Afghan troops launched their operation in Jalai district Monday afternoon after a roadside bombing killed seven policemen, Khalid told a press conference.
The troops killed 32 militants, injured three others and captured one. The operation lasted until Tuesday morning.
Kandahar province has been a hotbed of Taliban rebels, who often clash with government and foreign forces.
Rising Taliban insurgency has left over 2,600 people, mostly Taliban militants, dead in Afghanistan this year.
