Millitant commander arrested, another killed in North Kashmir

Srinagar : While security forces claimed to have arrested a Hizb-ul Mujahideen (HM) commander from Bandipora town, an unidentified militant was gunned down at Wudderbala in Handwara area of north Kashmir.

Official spokesman told News Agency of Kashmir that on specific information, Bandipora Police and 51 Bn of Border Security Force launched search operation and arrested a Battalion Commander of the HM militant outfit Bilal Ahmed Dar, S/O Mohammed Rajab Dar of Lakrishipora Bandipora.

Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Bandipora termed the arrest as a major setback to the outfit.

He said that Bilal Ahmed Dar was functioning as a Battalion Commander of HM Outfit and his arrest comes as a major setback to the nefarious designs of the Militant outfit.

Meanwhile, security forces gunned down an unidentified militant at Wudderbala area of Handwara.

SP Handwara, Dr Haseeb Mughal said that Police received specific information regarding presence of the militants at Wudderbala in Handwara following which Handwara Police and 21RR launched an operation.

He said militants opened indiscriminate fire on the searching party, which was duly retaliated, and in the ensuing encounter an unidentified militant was gunned down in maize fields.

He added that a child also sustained minor injuries in his hand during the cross firing. Search of the area is going till last reports came in.
