Bangalore police to talk to Haneef

By IANS

Bangalore : Bangalore police will not interrogate Muhammad Haneef on his arrival here Sunday from Australia after the dropping of terror charges against him but will meet him for a chat, a senior police official said.

"We will meet him," Gopal Hosur, the joint commissioner in charge of law and order, told IANS.

Hosur denied that city police planned to interrogate Haneef as reported in a section of the media.

The local media reported that though Australia had dropped all charges of Haneef's link with failed British terror plot, Bangalore police planned to question him about his activities here and the December 2005 attack on the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) here in which a retired professor died.

The IISc incident was the first major terror attack in the IT capital of India, and police believe that the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) was behind it.
