New Delhi : Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Tuesday congratulated Nicolas Sarkozy on his victory in the French presidential elections and said he looked forward to meeting the new president-elect.
"In his message the prime minister spoke of the importance of the friendship between India and France and said he looked forward to meeting the president-elect," the Prime Minister's Office said in a statement.
Sarkozy, Conservative candidate and former interior minister, beat Socialist Ségolène Royal to win the presidency of France by a comfortable margin Sunday.
