New Delhi : A large number of Muslim Ulema and scholars staged a sit-in under the banner of All India Deeni Madaris Board at Jantar Mantar here Thursday to protest the recent Hyderabad and Gorakhpur blasts.

Holding placards, raising slogans and wearing black bands on their arms, speakers, one after another, severely condemned the state and police machinery for their anti-Muslim policy and demanded a thorough probe by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into these blasts as well as earlier blasts in Parbhani, Purna, Nanded, Varanasi and Delhi, to bring the erring police officials who opened indiscriminate firing in Hyderabad to book and send them to gallows for killing innocent persons.

"Even after the passage of 60 years since Independence, Indian Muslims are living here as second class citizens. A chain of oppressions and injustices has been unleashed against them. A glimpse at Justice Sachar Committee Report reveals the extent of injustices Muslims have been made to bear ever since," said Maulana Fuzail Ahmad Qasmi. He added that the Congress Party is responsible for this sad plight of Muslims.

Deeni Madaris Board president Maulana Yaqoob Bulandshahri remarked, "The charge of terrorism on 20 crore Muslims of India is simply ridiculous and alarming for the integrity of the nation. The accused in Akshardham Temple blasts have been brought to book but those responsible for the demolition of Babri Masjid are ruling the roost. Communal and fascist leaders like Bal Thackeray, Praveen Togadia and Ashok Singhal are roaming freely even after spitting venom against Muslims and their organisations and institutions."

Secretary Markazi Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind Mufti Muhammad Arshad Farooqui expressed his grave concern over the ongoing conspiracy to defame Muslims in a well-planned manner. He called upon the Muslim leaders to raise united voice against this anti-Muslim policy of the state machinery.

The participants of the dharna also warned the government that they would launch countrywide protest against these injustices and oppressions if the government did not take any effective measure to change the situation for the better.
