New Delhi : Home Minister Shivraj Patil Friday promised to furnish details of investigations of all terror attacks in the country in the last two years even as Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L.K. Advani blamed “intelligence failure” for the multiple blasts that rocked Uttar Pradesh.
“It looks as if anti-national groups are widening their activities. We found more bombs after the explosions,” Patil said in the Lok Sabha, referring to the serial blasts that rocked Lucknow, Varanasi and Faizabad killing 13 people.
The home ministry has sent forensic teams belonging to the National Security Guards (NSG) to the blast sites and also issued advisories to states to step up vigilance.
Advani said the synchronised timing of the blasts spread over three cities pointed to meticulous planning.
“Prima facie it shows intelligence failure. This was not an isolated case of a blast going off in a market or a bus station. These blasts have been prepared over a period of time and shows there has been preparation,” he said.
In a written statement, Patil condemned the blasts and said the government would continue to fight terrorism in a resolute manner.
“I strongly condemn the blasts which have taken place in three different cities of Uttar Pradesh today and I convey my sympathies to the bereaved families and pray for speedy recovery of the injured,” he said.
“This is yet another attempt by anti-national elements to spread panic. I am confident that peace-loving people of the country will give a fitting reply to such elements.”
