IAEA: Cooperate with Iran

Cairo, Oct 5 (Prensa Latina) International Atomic Energy Association president Mohamed El Baradei asserted on Thursday in Cairo that cooperation is the best way to solve the Iranian nuclear affair.

El Baradei told Egyptian newspaper Al Ahram of the consequences of a confrontation with Iran, and urged to avoid it since, “the Middle East has quite enough problems to solve.”

The affair is moving beyond nuclear differences and putting regional security at risk, he stated adding that greater cooperation and adopting measures that build trust is the best way to find a solution.

On September 10 Iran said it would continue its cooperation with IAEA, but a new punishing resolution would cause it to revise this collaboration.

Iranian Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesman Seyyed Mohammad Ali Hoseini blamed the US government for affecting Iran’s credibility with international organizations and questioned Washington’s interference in bilateral relations and regional cooperation, citing criticism of US pressure by El Baradei.

The foreign ministers of the fifty-member Islamic Conference issued a communiqué Thursday from New York in defense of the right of Iran to nuclear energy with peaceful objectives and criticizing any kind of pressure on Tehran.
