Cairo : The Arab League has announced that an international campaign will be launched to support the estimated five million Iraqi refugees outside of the country.
After a coordination meeting with international organisations aiding Iraqi refugees Wednesday, head of the Secretary-General’s office at the Arab League, Ambassador Hesham Yusuf said that the congregation focused on providing support to the refugees who were increasing by 60 to 70,000 each month.
The official insisted that the problem was too huge for a sole organisation to handle, calling for a collective effort to help Iraqis overcome their harsh situation.
The League would act with other counterparts to tackle the situation in accordance with information provided by aid organisations and the Iraqi government, affirmed Yusuf, adding that media materials were suggested during the meeting to help in the international campaign for the 2.1 million Iraqis inside the country.
