Tehran : Iran’s top nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani and European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana agreed to hold new talks on nuclear in early October, the official IRNA news agency reported.
During their telephone conversation, the two sides discussed preparation for the new talks, an official with Larijani’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) was quoted as saying.
Larijani, who is also the secretary of the SNSC, said the deal reached last month between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) would be “the fundamental measures Iran has adopted for comprehensive settlement of the dispute with the UN nuclear agency.”
“Of course, there are some unwarranted voices these days which can be interpreted as sabotage to the constructive way of doing things and a sort of blackmailing,” Larijani said in his conversation with Solana.
Iran pledged late last month to answer outstanding questions about its controversial nuclear program, which some Western countries, including the United States, only considered as Iran’s fresh trick to delay UN sanctions.
