Sudanese Foreign Minister Lam Akol and U.S. charge d’affaires in Khartoum Alberto Fernandez voiced the desire during their meeting here Tuesday, the official SUNA news agency reported.

The American diplomat told reporters following the talks that the meeting was positive.

He noted that a number of issues were discussed, including the Darfur issue, the process of implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement in southern Sudan, bilateral relations and means of removing tension and working together to realize peace in Sudan.

Al-Sanusi added that an agreement was reached to continue dialogue in New York, where Lam Akol is to participate in the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly.
