Ranchi : Maoist rebels killed four villagers in Jharkhand by slitting their throats, the police said here Wednesday.
The four villagers were abducted from Poradih Chainpur village of Khuti district late Tuesday night. The bodies of the four were recovered from Chainpur village Wednesday.
According to the police, pamphlets have been recovered from the spot saying the killings were executed by the Kisan Krantikari Committee (KKC).
KKC is a frontal organization of the banned Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist). The pamphlets alleged the villagers were killed because they were involved in crimes like theft and dacoity.
Maoist rebels are active in 18 of the 24 districts of the state. In the last seven years, more than 1,000 people including civilians and rebels have been killed in Maoist violence.
