Raipur : Chhattisgarh recorded 20 percent jump in the excise revenue during the financial year 2007-08 ended March 31, as compared to the revenue earned in the previous fiscal.
“The state government set a target of Rs.840 crore (Rs.8.40 billion) for the excise revenue in the fiscal 2007-08. However, the department crossed the target and earned Rs.849 crore (Rs.8.49 billion),” Ajay Singh, principal secretary excise department, told newspersons here Wednesday.
“This is the highest revenue earned by the department so far. As compared to the excise revenue earned in 2006-07, the revenue generated in 2007-08 is reported to be 20 percent more,” Singh added.
In 2006-07, the department earned Rs.7.08 billion. In 2005-06, it was Rs.6.32 billion.
