Jamaat-e-Islami Hind welcomes 27% reservation for OBCs

New Delhi: Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, one of the leading Muslim organizations in India, has welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold 27% of OBC quota in central universities and other higher education institutions.

Lauding the order, Mujtaba Farooq, assistant secretary general, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, here in a press statement, called upon the government to redefine ‘Creamy Layer’ in such a way that only deprived and marginalized persons of OBC can benefit from the provision. The court has excluded ‘Creamy Layer’ from the quota.
