Bhopal : People living below poverty line in Madhya Pradesh will get subsidised food from fair price shops from Tuesday, official sources said.
This will be made possible under a scheme called Mukhya Mantri Annapurna Yojana.Beneficiaries will get wheat and rice at Rs.3 and Rs.4.50 a kilo respectively, an official said.
An allocation of Rs.160 crore (Rs.1.6 billion) has been made in the budget for giving the subsidy, an official said. Over 4.5 million BPL families will benefit from the scheme.
“Each family will get 20 kg of wheat or rice. This will entail an annual financial burden of Rs.213 crore (Rs.2.13 billion) to the state exchequer,” said the official.
