Kolkata : Explosives were Sunday seized in West Bengal’s Siliguri town.
Inspector General of Police (North Bengal) R.J.S. Nawla told IANS: “We have recovered 10 improvised explosive devices (IED), six timers and a detonator from a house at Gurung Basti in Pradhannagar.”
Nawla said the police got information about the explosives while interrogating Dipen Rai, who had been arrested earlier following a bomb blast.
“Three or four women were residing in the house where the seizures were made. But when we raided the house, they had fled,” he said.
A powerful explosion ripped through a house in Champasari area in Siliguri April 3 killing two people and seriously injuring Dipen Rai.
The police said the victims were linked to the Communist Party of Nepal-Youth League and they were planning massive explosions along the Nepal-Bhutan border as well as in the Siliguri-Doors area of north Bengal.
Siliguri, a bustling town in Darjeeling district, is about 600 km from here.
