Iran, Philippines For Expansion Of Economic Cooperation

Tehran : Parliament Speaker Gholam Ali Haddad Adel said on Sunday that political cooperation between Iran and the Philippines on regional and international developments could be a good support for expanding economic cooperation between the two countries.

Haddad Adel made the remarks in a meeting with the Philippine Foreign Minister Alberto Romulo in Tehran on Sunday, Iranian news agency (Irna) reported.

Iran and the Philippines have many similar and identical stance in dealing with regional and international developments and there is no dead end in mutual ties between the two countries, he said.

Given existing facilities and capabilities in both countries along with the determination of their officials to expand relations, the prospects of future relations between the two countries is very promising, Haddad said.

Referring to some anti-Islamic moves in some of European countries mainly in Denmark and the Netherlands, he said the plotters instead of advocating peace and friendship among followers of divine religions are promoting antagonism.

Highlighting significant roles of parliaments in expansion of cooperation between countries, he said Iran and the Philippines spared no efforts in establishing APA.

The Philippine foreign minister, for his part, said that his country calls for expansion of all-out relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran adding that the two countries have had very good historical ties which help them to make a better future.

Iran and the Philippines have had very good and constructive talks leading to expansion of political, economic, scientific and cultural cooperation between the two countries, he said.

He expressed hope that dialogue among religions could help resolve some regional issues.

He strongly condemned recent anti-Islamic moves in some of European countries.

Under NPT provisions, he underlined, it is the legitimate right of all countries to make peaceful use of nuclear energy.
