By Xinhua,
Gaza : Palestinian Islamic movement Hamas Tuesday denied a report that it has plans to breach Gaza-Egypt borders by force after Egyptian troops intensified presence there.
Sami Abu Zuhri, spokesman of the Islamic movement which rules Gaza Strip, made the denial in response to a report by the Egyptian al-Ahram daily that Hamas has a plan to blow up the concrete wall on the borders with Egypt and attack the Egyptian forces with mortar shells.
Denying the report, Abu Zuhri said that Hamas “doesn’t think about violating the Egyptian borders”.
Following Hamas’ takeover of the Gaza Strip by force last June, Israel tightened its economic siege on the coastal enclave and briefly cut fuel supplies earlier this year.
Palestinian militants demolished the border fence between Gaza and Egypt in late January, allowing hundreds of thousands of Gazans streaming into Egypt unchecked to stock up on supplies.
The breach was sealed in early February.
